Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê

King Tech High School is open to all 11th and 12th grade students in the Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê. We are a hybrid model with both full-time and part-time students. To attend full-time, students must meet basic entrance requirements and apply through the lottery system (click to link). Part-time students need not apply. Instead, their home school counselors will help them submit King Tech course requests. King Tech offers periodic tours.  Please call 907-742-8900 for tour information.

CTE pathways have extensive application of STEM: science, technology, engineering, and math, so many of our courses meet one or more of those requirements. Full-time students will fulfill other core graduation requirements through face-to-face classes, online classes, University of Alaska course, or through credit by choice options.

Home high schools provide busing to and from King Tech. Driving is a privilege. Student parking is located on the West side of the building toward Wendler Middle School.

Dual Credit is an articulation agreement between the Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê and post-secondary education institutions such as the University of Alaska Anchorage, University of Alaska Fairbanks or various apprenticeship programs. Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê students can earn lower division college credit when successfully completing high school tech courses. College credits provide a head start toward a post-secondary certification or degree and may be transferable to other universities or colleges.

Special Education

The special education staff at King Tech works to provide services for students with disabilities. A special education teacher assistant is assigned to each King Tech class. The teacher assistant, in collaboration with the King Tech special education department chair, monitors student progress and provides individual assistance to students as needed. Students may enter a regular vocational program or our Career & Work Readiness program depending on the student’s individual needs and goals.

We believe that extending the classroom beyond our walls is an important piece to King Tech’s mission and so we offer a variety of opportunities for students who have demonstrated that they are good candidates for work place experiences. King Tech has a Cooperative Education Agreement that allows eligible students to participate in a six-week unpaid internship with an industry partner. The internship allows for students to “try on a career” before they leave high school and pay for training in technical school, college or apprenticeships. To be eligible, students must have completed one or more semesters of a King Tech class and meet the following criteria: 90 percent attendance, a grade of “A” or “B,” and a teacher recommendation.
