• Service High Pre-AP Program

    Academic Access, Rigour, and Advancement

Pre-AP is an academically rigorous yet differentiated program offered to Service High English and Social Studies 9th and 10th graders.

Pre-AP is for all students, giving them the opportunity to learn the foundational knowledge and skills they need to be successful in general 11th and 12th grade classes, Career Tech classes, and AP and other college-level coursework.  It is designed to give all students the opportunity to learn the foundational knowledge and skills they need to be successful in any classes they take in the 11th and 12th grade, as well as post-secondary education.  It also opens up Advanced Placement (AP) opportunities for all high school students.

This program does provide recommendations for meeting learners’ needs, which include differentiation strategies to address diverse learning needs. These strategies include ideas for just-in-time skill building during a lesson or ways to break a task into smaller tasks, if needed, to make it more accessible. These are appropriate for any student, including EL and special education students.  This program, paired with Service High teachers, allows for educationally rigourous yet equitable opportunities for all students.
