Dear Families, 

On behalf of Mears’ teachers and staff, I welcome you to the Jane Mears Middle School family.  

One of the finest middle schools in the Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê, Mears has a long tradition of student success, family involvement, and academic excellence.  Our strong academic programs are designed to support learning and growth for all students. Additionally, offerings in the arts, career-technical education, and athletics give students additional opportunities for a well-rounded educational experience.  

At Mears, we emphasize the importance of providing social and emotional support for all students, fostering a school culture that is safe and inclusive. In all of our programs and practices, we value the wonderful diversity of students and families in Anchorage. In celebration of our ongoing effort to create a vibrant and inclusive campus environment, where all students and families are respected and valued, Mears has been recently recognized as a No Place for Hate School by the Anti-Defamation League's National Education Program.

Finally, Mears promotes learning that is cooperative, team-centered and academically challenging.  We seek to ensure that students become partners in their own educational progress, while promoting self-respect, responsibility, and integrity.  Our goal is to support each student’s developmental and academic growth, preparing them to succeed as they transition into high school and beyond.
