Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê

The 21st Century Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê Learning Centers is a federal grant administered in the state of Alaska by DEED (Dept. of Education and Early Development).  Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê is the largest grant holder in the state.  We offer no cost after school academic intervention and enrichment to the 10 most economically disadvantaged schools in the district.  Of those schools, students are referred by their school day teacher to the program who are underperforming.  This can be for a variety of reasons; attendance, minor behavior, state test scores, grades, Child in Transition students, English Learning students, and students who need additional Social and Emotional Learning supports.

Currently 21st CCLC programs are located in the following 10 Title I schools: 

• Alaska Native Cultural Charter School
• Fairview Elementary School
• Lake Otis Elementary School
• Mountain View Elementary School 
• Muldoon Elementary School 
• Ptarmigan Elementary School 
• Russian Jack Elementary School 
• Tyson Elementary School 
• Willow Crest Elementary School
• Wonder Park Elementary School 

21st CCLC program runs during the school year from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. 

Program typically begins the third or fourth week of school and runs until the end of April or beginning of May.

The program does not run every week during the school year. There are some weeks without program, such as weeks with Parent/Teacher Conferences and the week before and after winter break. Please view the calendar found on the Overview page or contact your student's school. 

Your child may be eligible to attend the program if they:

• Attend a Title I school in Ê®·ÖÁùºÏ²Ê
• Are underperforming academically
• Are referred to the program by their teacher 

Students must meet all three eligibility standards above to be considered for the program. 

Commonly students referred to the program are underperforming due to:

- being an English Language Learner (ELL) or Academic English Learner (AEL) student,

- having behavioral or social emotional difficulties which need support,

- being in a transitional home situation, or 

- having a low rate of attendance or frequent tardiness

For the process to begin you need to talk to your student's teacher. The teacher is required to submit information on test scores and classroom behaviors before the student can be considered for the program. 

Yes, it is possible for your student to attend, if they meet the following criteria:

 - your student attends one of the other Title I schools in Anchorage,

- is underperforming academically, and

- their teacher refers them to the program. 

If your student is eligible from the criteria above, they will be considered on a space available basis. 

There will be no transportation provided for students who are able to attend another school's program. 

To begin the process please talk to your student's teacher. If they agree to refer the student to the program, contact our office at 907-742-4410 to see if there is spaace available at our of our program schools.

Nothing! Our schools, teachers, and community partners work together to offer the program at no cost to our families and students. 

There are many ways to support 21st CCLC. We welcome families and community partners to work with our schools during the year. 

Ways you can support 21st CCLC:

• attend an Advisory Board Meeting
• give time and offer your skills in a multitude of areas to give new experiences to our students,
• chaperone on one of our field trips during the year, or 
• help us connect with your business or work location to offer information or space to students
